Role
The role is fixed term fulltime until 30 June 2027.
The Governance Officer works collaboratively across the Building Division to assist with the statutory policy responsibilities of the Planning portfolio which is responsible for driving implementation of the Government's major planning and building policies, strategies, systems and reforms. The role leads management of projects and subprograms, under limited direction with a focus on the environment and sustainability aspects of land use planning and urban development. The role involves facilitating a whole of government approach to policy reform as part of a broader team in the delivery of key policy commitments and provision of quality planning services to local government, other agencies and across the Department.

Position Outcomes /Accountabilities
1. Manages the analysis, research and policy development required to deliver projects that form part of major planning programs relating to the environment and sustainability aspects of land use planning and urban development.
2. Liaises with other branches, departments, agencies and the wider planning group to facilitate a whole of government approach to policy reform proposals.
3. Designs and coordinates stakeholder and community engagement activities including preparing communication materials, undertaking stakeholder interviews and responds to any issues raised.
4. Prepares briefs and correspondence on complex issues.
5. Supports internal and external project reference groups, responding to and managing different views and perspectives.
