Parliamentary Counsel's Office PARALEGAL AND EXECUTIVE SUPPORT OFFICER You. At the centre of big ideas. The Parliamentary Counsel's Office (PCO) provides a comprehensive and integrated range of high-quality services for the drafting of, and access to, NSW legislation and the giving of advice and information about legislation. As the Paralegal and Executive Support Officer, you will work closely with the Parliamentary Counsel, the Deputy Parliamentary Counsels (Deputies), and the Executive Officer to help finalise draft Bills and other legislative instruments, undertake legal research projects and perform other administrative activities. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Parliamentary Counsel with the preparation of draft Bills and other legislative instruments ensuring quality of drafts, and completion by required deadlines. Perform editorial checking and proofreading and provide production assistance to the Parliamentary Counsel to ensure draft legislation and related publications conform to PCO standards. Prepare Explanatory Notes and Notices of Motion for Bills to be introduced to Parliament and Cabinet materials as directed by the Parliamentary Counsel. Undertake legal research projects as directed by the Parliamentary Counsel and administrative projects as directed by Executive Officer. Accurately and promptly administer and maintain critical records and systems including those associated with the tracking of drafting workflows, and liaising as required with drafting staff, instructing staff and others. Provide direct administrative support and assistance to the Parliamentary Counsel, Deputies and the Executive Officer as required (for example, the provision of executive support, diary management, making travel arrangements, liaising with Ministers and Departmental Offices). Promptly and appropriately attend to incoming calls and emails to Parliamentary Counsel's Office reception. The Paralegal and Executive Support Officer is expected to work in the office to accommodate the requirements of the Parliamentary Counsel. During pre – sitting and sitting weeks some after – hours work is also required, which is managed within the rostering, flexible working or paid overtime arrangements applicable to the team. Successful applicants will participate in a comprehensive in-house training program on legislative editing and publishing, including technical systems.
