The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) is seeking highly skilled and dynamic leaders for the SES Band 2 Group Executive Director, Audit Services vacancies in the Financial Statements Audit Services Group, Performance Audit Services Group, and the Systems Assurance and Data Analytics Group.
These senior leadership positions play a crucial role in delivering independent reporting to the Australian Parliament and promoting accountability and transparency within the Australian Government sector.
As a Group Executive Director, you will be responsible for leading one of the three functional groups within the ANAO:
Financial Statements Audit Services Group: Provides independent assurance on financial statements and financial administration for Australian Government entities and conducts assurance reviews. Performance Audit Services Group: Conducts performance audits of Australian Government entities and their activities, producing related publications and information reports. Systems Assurance and Data Analytics Group: Provides IT audit and data analytics support to ANAO's assurance, performance, and performance statements audit work. These roles are vital in delivering the ANAO's strategic objectives, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of each group, and maintaining high standards of audit quality.
As Group Executive Director, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, manage resources, provide strategic direction, and foster a collaborative environment across the ANAO.
You will engage with senior government officials, stakeholders, and Parliament to deliver on the ANAO's mission.
The key duties of the position include Key Responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership of the ANAO as a member of the Executive Board of Management and support the Auditor-General in driving overall organisational performance and achieving the ANAO's goals and vision. Provide expert leadership and strategic direction for your group, working closely with other senior executives to ensure alignment with the ANAO's overall goals and vision. Lead and manage the delivery of audit and assurance services in your functional area, ensuring high-quality outcomes and adherence to relevant standards. Cultivate and maintain key relationships with senior government officials, stakeholders, and Parliament to support the ANAO's work and enhance its public sector impact. Drive a culture of continuous improvement, fostering innovation and developing strategies to respond to emerging challenges in public sector performance and accountability. Oversee resource planning, financial management, and the execution of key projects to ensure the effective operation of your group. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, ensuring the group's success and capability to meet the ANAO's objectives. To be successful in these roles, you will demonstrate:
Proven experience in leading and managing diverse, multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex audit and assurance services in a professional environment. Ability to think critically and strategically, providing expert advice to senior leadership and stakeholders on complex public sector issues, and working effectively in teams with other executives to deliver a shared vision and goals. Deep technical expertise in audit, assurance, data analytics, or IT systems, with a commitment to driving high-quality outcomes and improvements in public sector administration. Experience in managing complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior government officials and parliamentary bodies. High standards of integrity and professionalism, with a strong commitment to public service values and accountability. SES leaders who make, or participate in making, decisions that affect the whole, or a substantial part, of ANAO (as the Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking, PCBU) are regarded as an Officer for the purposes of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act).
To fulfil their duty under the WHS Act, Officers must exercise due diligence to ensure ANAO complies with its work health and safety duties and obligations.
It is ANAO's expectation that all SES Leaders act in a way that is consistent with the obligations of an Officer under the WHS Act.
Desirable qualifications There are no mandatory qualifications for this role, however, the following are highly desirable:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, economics, law, public policy, IT, or a related discipline. Membership of relevant professional bodies or associations. Relevant experience in senior operational management, ideally within the public sector. #J-18808-Ljbffr
