How we manage the Basin as a whole connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.The PositionThe Canberra Facilities Manager role is responsible for the day-to-day property and facilities administration of the MDBA's Canberra office accommodation.
It will be involved in the planning and coordination of all aspects of property and facilities management, along with aspects of protective security administration, contract management and procurement, and vendor liaison.The Canberra Facilities Manager works closely with the executive within the Business Services Portfolio (most notably Procurement, People and Culture, ICT and Data services), as part of the Finance and Business Operations Branch.The work will be complex in nature and require you to work under limited direction with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability.
You will be a problem-solver and may assist in strategic planning, program and project management and policy development with the flexibility, motivation and desire to make a difference in delivering the Support Services work program.Your key responsibilities in this role are to: Coordinate site/facilities repairs and monitor ongoing performance of facilities (including contracting out and supervising maintenance technicians contracted on behalf of the portfolio).Local contract and lease negotiation and management.Foster internal and external relationships through a high standard of professional and personal integrity to build confidence as a reliable and trusted subject matter expert.Provide technical, operational, and strategic advice and support in relation to regional facilities management and contract matters.Financial management for procurements and contracts pertaining to MDBA Offices Project.Manage the ordering of Canberra based stationery, cleaning products, and milk.Coordinate national minor procurements including stationery, cleaning products, milk and other stores which requires value-add from a centralised approach.Coordinate, manage, and report against property systems (Skedda desk booking system).Undertake investigation and analysis of complex issues and provide a range of compliant solutions.Contribute to other projects, tasks and processes as required, including actively identifying and providing solutions to business process improvements.Assist executive with the creation/review of Property and Security policy and guidance material.Engage and collaborate with other parts of the MDBA and other external stakeholders to contribute to Questions on Notice, Audit and Risk Committee, and Executive Board responses.Enhance and build the good reputation of the agency through representation at public and professional forums.Contribute to meetings as a key member of the Branch.In consultation with Business Services Portfolio Executive, assist Canberra office in areas of corporate support.Assist Reception/Operations when additional resources required.What we offer you: You will have the opportunity to work on projects where you contribute to shaping the future of one of Australia's greatest natural assets and protect it for future generations.At the MDBA you will undertake a variety of interesting and challenging work.
