The Opportunity
As the Lead Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the end to end payroll function for our organization. Leading a team of 4, you will be a key player in ensuring that our employees are compensated accurately and on time, while adhering to all relevant regulations and best practices. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, ability to communicate to internal & external stakeholders and a strong ability to handle complex payroll tasks.
* Lead and manage the entire payroll process, including data collection, processing, and distribution of paychecks.
* Be responsible for ensuring the smooth operational running of both weekly and fortnightly payroll processes, while handling sensitive and confidential information.
* Ensure that all payroll processes are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
* Address and resolve complex payroll-related issues, including discrepancies, deductions, and tax concerns.
* Oversee payroll record keeping, maintain accurate employee records, and ensure data security and confidentiality.
* Lead and mentor a team of 4 payroll specialists to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and professional development.
* Generate payroll reports and analytics for management, finance, and HR departments.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of payroll processes.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
* Experienced in end to end complex payroll with multiple Awards/EAs
* Experience working with internal and external auditors, preparing and analysing data, and reviewing controls to ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational standards
* High level of attention to detail
* Leadership skills with a focus on developing and training team members
* Ability to identify problems and present solutions
* Previous experience in a high-volume payroll environment
* Experience with involvement of a new system roll out (desirable)
* Experience working with in a project-based environment (desirable)
