The team provides specialist services for young people, children and families, adults, and older people. Community mental health services include a specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Team, bilingual mental health workers, and Peer Support Workers. Our main sites are at Canterbury, Croydon, Camperdown, Marrickville, and Redfern Community Health Services. The role will be based at Ashfield Headspace Building.The Clinical Nurse Consultant will be working as part of a small but dynamic team that supports young people and their families/supports. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical advice to consumers, carers, and other health care providers. This will be achieved by developing, implementing, and evaluating care management plans for consumers with complex health needs. Provides leadership in the ongoing development of clinical practice. Initiates and utilizes findings of research in the provision of clinical services. Contributes to the development and delivery of specialty-related education programs. Participates in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the clinical service.The Clinical Nurse Consultant will be responsible for:Providing effective care during the critical early phase of illness, involving proactive engagement and initiation of clinical therapies.Reducing the duration of untreated psychosis, limiting the impact of a first episode of psychosis, fostering hope that recovery is possible, and maximizing the quality of life of consumers, carers, and their families.Working in partnership with other agencies to provide psychosocial interventions aiming for maximal symptomatic and functional recovery and prevention of relapse.Assessment at Headspace; consultation of more complex youth mental health presentations.Outreach with Headspace (e.g., home visits).Collaborative care coordination and targeted interventions for young people identified at Headspace (Camperdown) as being "at risk" of developing a psychotic disorder.The position will meet the standards and performance indicators expected in the Service Level Agreement between EIPS and Headspace and work in close collaboration with the psychiatrist and the Headspace leadership team. The clinician will take the lead role in the LHD to evaluate the in-reach/co-location model with Headspace.Minimum Requirements: Current nursing registration with APHRA with a minimum of five (5) years post-registration mental health experience and tertiary qualifications relevant to mental health. Extensive clinical experience in mental health, and demonstrated advanced level practice and supervision skills.Demonstrated advanced skills in the comprehensive assessment and management of mental health consumers, including assessment, and individual and group interventions.Demonstrated experience working with young people with complex needs including an understanding of current treatment approaches for people with emerging mental health problems, co-morbidity, and substance use problems.Current NSW Driver's Licence (P1 and P2 Acceptable).Benefits and Perks!
