We are actively looking for a Marine Structural Engineer to join our Sydney office. As part of the Marine Structural Group, the Marine Structural Engineer will work on structural design of waterfront structures and maritime infrastructure projects, including facilities for cargo, naval, passenger and recreational vessels. Project management and delivery responsibility of small projects, including fee proposals. Work with junior engineers on the design of maritime structures. Develop and maintain positive client relationships during project delivery. Undertake structural design of waterfront and urban waterfront projects relating to near-shore platforms, trestles, wharves, piers, docks, bulkheads, gravity retaining structures, mooring/breasting structures, and liquid, gas, container and bulk terminals. Work independently on smaller design projects and in a team including junior engineers Manage small projects (in parallel with design responsibilities), including budgets, scheduling, documentation/deliverable preparation, and coordination with other design disciplines Develop design criteria (basis of design) for maritime facilities and calculate design loads that are specific to maritime structures Structural analysis, design, and detailing for concrete, steel and timber structures Resolve design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspection Develop construction drawings (with drafting technicians), specifications, bills of quantities and structural calculation packages Prepare technical reports Inspection, authoring assessment reports and developing rehabilitation plans of waterfront structures with assistance from senior engineers Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects Communicate with clients and external stakeholders Other duties: Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering (Washington Accord degree preferred) Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering design, predominantly in maritime structures engineering. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) Availability and willingness to travel All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171 Preferred education and experience Chartered Professional Engineer (Engineers Australia) – achieved or actively working towards attainment General Construction Induction Card (White Card) Structural analysis with SAP2000 analysis software (or similar) Experience designing to Australian design codes (and ideally experience with other international design codes and standards) Working conditions: Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally. Work authorization/security clearance requirements Existing Australian (AGSVA) security clearance an advantage (e.g. Baseline or NV1).
