Junior Systems Administrator - $95k super - North Brisbane Are you a senior support tech looking for the opportunity to gain exposure to complex systems work? Robert Half is exclusively engaged with a reputable, Australian-owned organization looking to expand its IT department with the addition of a Junior Systems Administrator. In this role, you'll be working across the entire technology stack of the organization, shadowing a highly skilled Systems Engineer, supporting on both project and bau requirements. Key Responsibilities: Provide assistance in the administration and maintenance of IT infrastructure under the supervision of the Systems Engineer, including performing regular health checks, patching, basic upgrades, and routine maintenance tasks. Shadow and collaborate with the Systems Engineer to gain hands-on exposure to system design, deployments, and infrastructure projects, gradually increasing involvement in project-oriented tasks (70% project work once settled into the role). Respond to and troubleshoot technical issues raised to the Level 3 service queue, ensuring operational stability while escalating more complex issues to senior staff when necessary. Participate in and support continuous improvement efforts to maintain stable, scalable, and secure IT systems. Learn and assist with backups, disaster recovery processes, and performance monitoring tasks as part of building a solid foundational knowledge of system administration. Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems, configurations, processes, and resolutions to promote operational continuity and team knowledge sharing. Involvement in on-call duties (1 in 4 weeks after training and onboarding). Key Requirements: Exposure to some of the following: VMware, Windows Server, Citrix, M365, FortiGate, Aruba, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP. Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly to complex environments. Exposure to system administration tasks such as configuration and routine troubleshooting, with eagerness to further develop technical expertise. Strong problem-solving and communication skills to contribute effectively to team collaboration and project efforts. Willingness to follow structured training and mentorship while demonstrating initiative in picking up maintenance responsibilities independently once trained. Understanding of IT operational requirements for production environments, including the importance of service continuity, disaster recovery, and proactive monitoring.
