Responsibilities
* Undertake assessment and investigation of traffic issues requested by Councillors, the community, other divisions, public authorities and other stakeholders for reporting to the Traffic Advisory Committee.
* Preparation of technical reports for and liaison with the Traffic Advisory Committee or as needed for other stakeholders.
* Preparation of design layouts for new traffic facilities, including roundabouts and carparks.
* Conduct and analyse community consultation for traffic related projects.
* Coordinate installation of new traffic facilities and maintenance of existing traffic facilities, signs and line marking.
* Attend site meetings with stakeholders as required.
* Conduct road safety audits of traffic facilities (including night audits).
* Administer Works Zone and Swing or Hoist Goods Over Public Land applications.
* Assist in the development of traffic data collection strategies and analysis of traffic data including but not limited to organisation and implementation of traffic counters, download and analysis of traffic data and counts, intersection and pedestrian counts.
* Assist in the development, analysis and preparation of traffic studies
Qualifications
* Tertiary Qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, or in the process of obtaining such qualifications
* Registered Professional Engineer or should be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with the NSW registration laws, where applicable.
* RMS certification for the preparation and implementation of traffic control/ management plans
* Class C Drivers Licence
* Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Essential Experience
* Demonstrated understanding of traffic and transport issues and principals
* A high level of computer literacy with sound working knowledge of traffic engineering modelling software, GIS (mapping) software and Microsoft Office
* Ability to present accurate, clear concise and timely reports on traffic matters
* Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team
* Understanding of and commitment to WHS practices and EEO principles
* Demonstrated commitment to customer service
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Local Government experience desired
