Your New Role and Responsibilities
As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the support and maintenance of their global IT network. Your primary focus will be on operational maintenance, responding to incidents and service requests, and participating in project work to implement new digital services and enhance network capabilities. This role requires working weekends and outside of normal business hours, as well as providing on-call support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform day-to-day level 2 and 3 support and administration activities for a global network, including responding to system faults, configuration updates, monitoring system health, and maintaining disaster recovery manuals.
* Install, configure, and maintain Cisco and Fortinet hardware and software platforms to provide Data Centre Networking, SDWAN, VPN Remote Access, and WiFi.
* Identify and provide technical details for implementing system improvements, both within and outside formal projects.
* Research, evaluate, and implement new hardware, software, and processes for the development, management, and support of corporate communication networks.
* Manage system upgrades and follow ISM guidelines to maintain Maturity Level 2 security posture.
* Ensure network service documentation and standard operating procedures are up to date and relevant.
* Participate in an on-call roster to respond to urgent issues after hours
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Candidates must hold a current minimum NV1 clearance
* Demonstrated technical understanding of, and experience with, Fortinet, Cisco, and Azure networking suite of services and products.
* Experience with FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAuthenticator, and FortiAnalyzer.
* Experience with Solarwinds or other equivalent network monitoring tools.
* Operational experience and troubleshooting skills with global network communications deployments.
* Functional knowledge and experience of telecommunications standards and protocols such as IP/TCP/UDP, routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF), QoS/DSCP, and DMVPN/ADVPN.
* Functional knowledge and experience of SNMPv3, Netflow, AVC, NBAR, and network performance monitoring/management tools and methods.
* Experience with Public Key Cryptography principles and network authentication and encryption protocols such as IPSEC/IKE, 802.1x, RADIUS, TACACS+, SSL/TLS, EAP.
* Sound oral and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with management, users, external organizations, and other IT staff.
* The ability to prioritize and meet timeframes while supporting both business-as-usual operations and projects.
* Cybersecurity awareness and experience in implementing measures to resolve and mitigate vulnerabilities.
* Cisco certification such as CCNA, or equivalent experience.
* Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems-related field.
