The Role
Are you an experienced and energetic editorial leader who loves to create content that engages local and national audiences? Do you want to be part of an innovative and successful leadership team with Australia’s most trusted news organisation?
ABC South West WA is recruiting for an Editor on an ongoing basis to join the leadership group and to lead and inspire the local team in Bunbury.
In this role you will drive daily news coverage across digital, television, audio and social media as well as managing local radio programs.
The Job
4. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture with a shared commitment to team objectives.
5. Identify local stories for sharing across News and ABC platforms under the Regional Editor's guidance.
6. Manage the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicate with stakeholders as needed.
7. Collaborate with News and ABC teams to plan local activities and national projects that enhance audience reach.
8. Implement initiatives to improve staffing flexibility, rostering, and resource allocation for better efficiency.
9. Generate stories reflecting Australia’s cultural, geographic, and socio-economic diversity.

About You
We are looking for an experienced journalist who understands how to engage and grow the audience, how to inspire a high-performing team and how to deliver real impact for the community.
You'll have:
10. Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field
11. Strong editorial leadership skills with the ability to source and analyse diverse Australian stories and align content with ABC editorial policies
12. Proven experience in leading diverse teams collaboratively and managing team development
13. Advanced skills in organizational planning, communication, problem-solving, and prioritization
14. Deep understanding of local audience interests and needs and strong community networking capabilities
15. Passionate commitment to representing Australia's cultural diversity through authentic storytelling
16. Current, valid driver's licence
