A fantastic opportunity exists for a Senior Economist to develop and deliver research projects and reports that positively impact the social and economic development of Australians with a focus on global productivity, navigating change in the workforce and increased wellbeing. Located in any CEDA capital city, this full-time permanent role will work with a nationally diverse Research team and report directly to the Chief Economist.
The Senior Economist plays an important part in contributing, providing insights and presenting CEDA's national policy and research work at CEDA events, internal stakeholder meetings and external forums within the State. This role requires a collaborative team member who has demonstrated project management capability, strong data analytical skills, confidence in engaging with high-level stakeholders and delivering onstage presentations. Your day to day activities will include:
Managing and delivering agreed research projects within tight timeframes (i.e. scoping policy issues, identifying and engaging key stakeholders and commissioning research papers).Conducting research and analysis of complex policy and economics issues affecting Australia, including formulating practical evidence-based policy recommendations.Contributing to the state-specific insights and perspectives relevant to CEDA's research.Communicating findings in written form and verbally in an insightful and accessible manner, while tailoring the findings to particular audiences.Identifying and managing external and internal stakeholders to facilitate project outcomes and meet respective timelines.Providing State based leadership visibility, including in government engagement and advocacy.Assuming host/MC role in CEO/CE absence at CEDA public events and in digital forums.You'll love this role if you:Are a self-starter with a keen interest in and extensive understanding of current and emerging public policy issues.Are a problem solver and a critical thinker with strong policy, political and commercial awareness.Have experience and confidence in engaging with a range of high-level stakeholders.Demonstrate high level verbal and written communication skills including an ability to communicate complex issues using accessible language.Can confidently work with data to construct compelling arguments in relation to relevant CEDA research.Have at least 5 years policy or economics related work experience with relevant Tertiary qualifications, preferably in Economics, Data or a policy related discipline.Have the ability to work as part of a multifunctional, multidisciplinary national collegiate team valuing effort and aligned to CEDA values.Our work environment is fun and fast-paced, we embrace our values, work flexibly and celebrate success.
