About us:Rockhampton Hospital is the largest hospital in Central Queensland and the main referral hub for the region.Rockhampton Hospital will play an important role in achieving the objectives set out in our Destination 2030: Great Care for Central Queenslanders strategy. We will deliver expert care close to home by investing in a range of specialist services at Rockhampton Hospital for all Central Queenslanders.The Cardiac Investigations Unit (CIU) offers a range of cardiac diagnostic services including echocardiography, exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, exercise stress testing, tilt table testing, and ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring. Expansion to Cardiac Services will see a Cardiac Catheterisation Lab (CCL) commence in 2026 with Cardiac Physiologist led haemodynamic monitoring.About the role:The Cardiac Scientist Echosonographer Senior delivers high level cardiac diagnostic testing to a varied nature to inpatients and outpatients of the Rockhampton Hospital within Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS). This position is required to exercise a high level of independence and represent Cardiac Investigations Unit on relevant committees or portfolio(s).The Cardiac Scientist Echosonographer Senior acts as a resource person by leading quality improvement, research, and service development of clinical areas consistent with CQHHS and Queensland Health State-wide initiatives and strategic directions. Clinical practice will be related to the assigned clinical portfolio (Echocardiography, Pacing, Cath Lab, Non-invasive testing) but will also remain flexible to ensure the focus of service delivery remains on delivering patient-centred and time-appropriate care.
