We are seeking a general manager with a hospitality mindset to oversee our busy bakery. This key role manages day-to-day operations across all Bread + Butter locations to ensure our pastry, bakery, kitchen, front-of-house, coffee, and administration teams deliver excellence daily. What you will need to succeed You will be an experienced leader who can manage and motivate employees across teams while offering comprehensive and organised support to other management. This role requires strong communication skills, a can-do mindset, and a flexible approach to challenges. An eye for detail, curiosity, and an understanding of the bigger picture are crucial. You will be confident in short—and long-term planning, ideally with experience in (or skills transferrable to) project management and events. You will have a good understanding of the financial infrastructure of a café / bakery, including costings, budgeting, invoicing processes, and supplier relationships, and work alongside our accountant to constantly refine these. We're seeking at least 2 years of provable experience in a similar role. A robust understanding of Google Workspaces is essential, as is experience using Tanda software (or similar) for rostering and payroll management and Square / XERO software (or similar) for orders, e-commerce, and finance management. Key areas of responsibility Operational excellence: ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across our three locations from opening to closing, maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness, customer service, and competence. Managing our Annual Planner (holidays, seasons, events). Sales forecasting, stock control, and waste management for all locations. Liaising with our wholesale manager to pursue and assist with business opportunities and operations. Financial management: producing and updating costings, reports, and budgets and monitoring expenditures with insight and accuracy. Working closely with our internal and external accountants to ensure watertight financial processes. Building management: handling all aspects of health & safety, fire safety, licensing (Launceston City Council), equipment and maintenance issues. HR: Develop and update HR policies and documents and support all staff with issues and queries arising. Facilitate recruitment for roles across FOH, BOH, and Office and manage onboarding, training, and performance reviews.
