The successful applicants will beresponsible for providing quality legal advice and representationfor government across a wide range of Civil Litigation matters.The Civil Litigation Section provides legal services togovernment and the statutory authorities for which the CrownSolicitor is authorised to act in relation to a wide range of civillitigation matters including but not limited to the followingareas:Victims of CrimeThe Victims of Crime Group practices across the work of the sectionwith core emphasis on the administration of the assessment andpayment of compensation to victims of crime, recovery fromoffenders and the provision of advice to the Attorney-General aboutthe exercise of discretionary powers provided for in thelegislation.General LitigationThe General Litigation group undertake a variety of litigationincluding negligence claims, defamation and other miscellaneousmatters. The General Litigation group also represent the State incommon law claims arising from persons who were sexually orphysically abused in State Care.Coronials, Asbestos and Medical NegligenceThe Coronial, Asbestos and Medical Negligence group provides adviceand representation to government agencies and employees in Coronialinvestigations and inquests, manages claims and proceedings underthe Dust Diseases Act 2005 and provides advice and representationin relation to claims and potential claims in relation to allegedmedical negligence.Employment LawThe Employment Law Group provides advice and representation toMinisters and Government agencies concerning matters arisingprimarily under the Return to Work Act, Public Sector Act, FairWork Act and associated public sector awards and enterpriseagreements, the ICAC Act and the Equal Opportunity Act.About theBusinessThe Crown Solicitor's Office provides legal services togovernment specifically to Ministers, departments and other publicsector agencies.
