Asset Engineer – Port of Melbourne About the Company: The Port of Melbourne (PoM) is a crucial economic asset for Victoria and Australia, serving as a vital trade gateway. Managed under a lease granted by the Victorian Government, it encompasses substantial port land, wharves, and channels. The PoM is committed to responsible and sustainable infrastructure management to support its ongoing growth. Position overview: As an Asset Engineer with the PoM, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on one of Australia's most vital Assets. You'll apply your engineering expertise to support PoM's annual condition inspection program, offer technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders, and help shape the port's asset management strategies.With no two days alike, you will be able to sharpen your technical skills while contributing to long-term, sustainable asst management solutions. This role blends technical engineering work with strategic thinking to manage lifecycle costs, ensuring the continued safety, reliability and efficiency of the port's operations. Key responsibilities include: Delivering PoM's Annual Condition Inspection Program, covering diverse assets including Maritime Structures (wharves, navigation aids), roads, buildings, heavy-duty pavements, underground services, and bridge structures.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide expert technical advice.Create detailed reports and technical briefs while ensuring the accuracy of data within the Asset Management System.Maintain the Port Load Chart and manage activities related to non-standard crane lifts, heavy transport, and Non-Standard Vessel arrivals.Ensure cost-effective asset management while upholding the safety, reliability, and integrity of PoM's infrastructure, including capital and operational budgeting. To set you up for success, Ideally you will: Have a proven track record of delivering technical engineering or asset management advice in either asset ownership or consulting environmentsThrive on collaboration and have the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders to ensure PoM's assets are managed and maintained to the highest standards.Have experience overseeing technical projects to ensure recommendations are implemented effectively.Be a proactive team player with a growth mindset, ready to learn and contribute within a supportive team culture.Hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
