The role: Reporting to the Director - Operations, the Paramedic - Secondary Triage Clinician supports delivery of the Ambulance Tasmania (AT) Secondary Triage Service.
The Paramedic - Secondary Triage Clinician uses advanced clinical skills and knowledge to determines the most appropriate health care pathway for patients to: Determine the most appropriate and efficient service to be delivered.
Minimise the risk of incorrect assessment of the presenting health problem/s.
Within specified procedures and established protocols, the Paramedic - Secondary Triage Clinician will: Use expert clinical knowledge to triage, refer, and document calls using an approved medical triaging software support system.
Use high level interpersonal skills and sensitivity to provide support, guidance, health care advice and referral to patients/callers through inbound and outbound communication channels.
Maintain a high level of program and product knowledge and relationships with service providers, internal and external stakeholders and the general community, to provide the best customer service and clinical outcomes.
Use highly developed understanding of quality improvement processes, applying continuous improvement philosophies and practices, to participate and effectively contribute to AT's quality and safety processes, thereby increasing value to the customers and the organisation.

The team: Working as an integral part of a small team of paramedics and clinical nurse consultants Working within a larger communications centre dealing with statewide Emergency ambulance calls A combination of day, afternoon and night shifts will be required Details of Appointment Permanent part time, shift-worker position working 42 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: $100,819 to $117,201 per annum + 11% superannuation Salary range is in accordance with Ambulance Tasmania Agreement 2022 Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria: Holds a Bachelor of Paramedic Science or other approved qualification.
Registered with the Paramedicine Board of Australia.
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment.
It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change.
This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable: Hold a current Authority to Practice with Ambulance Tasmania, prior to commencement in the role.
Four years post qualification experience as a Paramedic.
Experience in triaging patients and/or telephone triage.
Emergency Services call taking and/or dispatch.
Current Driver's Licence.
Competent keyboarding skills – Excel and Word capability.
