Technical System Administrator (APS 6) - Unified Communication TeamLocation: Canberra, Geelong, Melbourne or SydneyPermanent position; full-time hours; primarily office basedThe Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill the position of Technical System Administrator in our Unified Communications team. This is a permanent position at the APS 6 classification level.About the roleIn this role, you will leverage both your technical, leadership, and client support skills, working in partnership with other technical areas and suppliers to maintain and improve services, build capability, and deliver strategic projects in support of ABS business areas and external stakeholders.The role of the APS 6 Technical System Administrator will include primarily working to the Unified Communications Technical Lead to:Configure, integrate, maintain, and manage the team’s systems including:- Microsoft Teams Video Conferencing rooms and Telephony- Digital signage, internal event recordings, and Streaming infrastructureDiagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems.Provide advanced technical support for escalated issues from junior staff.Provide input into future technical directions in Unified Communications.Drive and deliver small projects with minimal supervision in reasonable timeframes.General responsibilities of this role include:Ensuring the delivery of ABS business outcomes through participation in multi-disciplinary agile teams.Liaising with internal and external stakeholders (including vendors), leveraging their expertise to resolve critical issues and inform decisions.Adhering to the ABS contract, change management, and financial management processes.Utilising your technical leadership and experiences to mentor staff.Preparing and maintaining appropriate documentation.Participating in a 24 x 7 on-call roster.What we are looking for (selection criteria)To be suitable, you should have most of or all the following skills, qualities, and experience:Technical Skills:Excellent working knowledge and experience in the Microsoft Collaboration Ecosystem (Teams and M365).Experience with corporate video conferencing systems (preferably Microsoft Teams).Proficiency in network configurations, bandwidth management, firewalls, and troubleshooting network issues.Ability to program in an administrative language (e.g., PowerShell).Experience with Windows server administration.Knowledge of AV equipment including cameras, microphones, and speakers - highly desirable.End User Service Skills.Project Management.Communication & Interpersonal Skills.How to applyTo apply, you will need to upload your resume, provide referee details, and respond to:In no more than 650 words, provide one or two examples of how you responded to an urgent technical situation where a complex IT Service your team was responsible for was suddenly not working.
