The Position Highlights
IT Consultant PSS2207 / Victoria, BC
Commitment and Term
Full-time, permanent
Hours: Monday-Friday 8 am – 5 pm, with some after-hours support required as needed
Primary Focus
We are looking for an IT Consultant to work within a highly skilled team delivering solutions to our small to mid-sized business (SMB) with a strong focus on client care, timelines, and deliverable.
You will be responsible for liaising with businesses, leaders, users, and co-workers to provide technical support on complex issues related to our clients' various infrastructure environments.
Support the Account / Project Management Office in proposing and developing the “right” solution for the client.
Act as an escalation point for client service issues.
Investigate, troubleshoot, problem solve, and resolve technical infrastructure related issues and provide third level support including root cause analysis, testing, and documentation.
Plan/Setup/configure/deploy/troubleshoot desktops, servers, networks, with a focus on cloud services such as Azure and O365 as well as servers and storage.
Build and maintain an in-depth knowledge of ESW-IT services and offerings.
Develop and update technical documentation including system configurations, application integration, etc.
Follow Change Management Procedures when deploying changes to the varying environments.
Provide remote or on-site client support to specified clients.
Assist with planning or implementation of small to complex projects.
Maintain client commitments related to service delivery requirements.
Formulate and define the objectives and scope based on clear understanding of the client’s business requirements and needs.
Assist in the development and delivery of automated Managed Service products.
Contribute to transition activities from the Project Team to Operations Team.
Facilitate service improvement meetings with the technical team supporting specific clients.
Provide after-hours support work when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Education
Prefer 5+ years of experience in an IT consulting or intermediate technical support role.
Post-secondary education in a computer related discipline would be preferred.
Microsoft Certifications are an asset.
Related industry technical certifications are considered an asset (Microsoft, AWS, etc.).
Alternatively, an appropriate combination of education and experience may be considered.
Desirable Skills and Experience Experience in the following areas is an asset:
Remain calm and work efficiently in stressful circumstances.
Advanced knowledge of Windows 10, Windows Server 2016/2019, MS Azure.
Microsoft 365 full product suite.
Virtualization – MS Hyper-V, VMWare.
Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Active Directory.
Advanced knowledge of networking and routing technology.
Working Conditions
This position will be based out of the ESW Victoria, BC office location and mainly supports the greater Victoria area and surrounding communities.
This role can be physically demanding at times requiring carrying, setting up, and servicing of hardware weighing up to 50 lbs. in a variety of office environments.
This role requires good time management skills and an ability to work with minimal supervision.
Will require own vehicle with insurance appropriate to business use.
The successful candidate must comply with the safety standards of ESW-IT and/or its clients.
Consultants will meet customers that can include:
Administration staff / middle management.
Executive management.
Other consultants with different skill sets.
Other technology vendors.
Reporting Relationships
IT Consultant reports to PSS Manager.
No co-workers report to the IT Consultant.
