Your Role As a Mechanical Fitter at Viva Energy, you will play a key role in maintaining and optimising a diverse fleet of rotating and stationary equipment at the Geelong Refinery. You’ll contribute to the continued safe and efficient operation of one of Australia's critical energy facilities. Key Responsibilities Maintain, overhaul, and repair rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, and steam turbines. Perform dynamic balancing, alignment, and machining of components during repairs or modifications. Troubleshoot equipment issues using problem-solving and failure analysis techniques to improve reliability. Uphold Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards in all activities, following the Geelong Refinery Management System. Estimate, plan, and execute maintenance tasks to optimise productivity and cost-effectiveness. Assist with the training and development of apprentices and team members. Record and optimise workflows using maintenance documentation and CMMS systems. Participate in after-hours call-ins, extended hours, and plant shutdown activities. Collaborate with operations, maintenance controllers, and team members to prioritise and complete tasks. Workshop Equipment You will operate a range of advanced workshop machinery, including: Borer Machine Balancing Machine Lathes Milling Machine Radial Arm Drill Slotter Machine Surface Grinder Hydraulic Press What We’re Looking For Trade-qualified Fitter/Machinist with a trade certificate. Proven experience with rotating equipment in oil and gas, industrial, mining, or power station environments. Skilled in operating workshop machinery and proficient with CMMS systems. Desirable qualifications include dogman or rigger certifications. Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and time management skills. A commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence. Hours of Work Trades operate on a 35-hour, 4-day workweek. The standard workdays are Tuesday to Friday. An additional shift works Monday to Thursday to provide coverage.
