Working collaboratively within a dynamic team of sworn and unsworn technical officers, you will assist to install, maintain, service and repair electronic surveillance equipment whilst participating in the design and development of new capabilities that support serious and major crime investigations.
Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
* Identify trends and undertake technological research relevant to policing activities.
* Provide high-level oral and written briefings on all aspects of analytical and practical tasks associated with technical equipment for policing and surveillance activities.
* Actively participate in the development and implementation of the deployment of technical equipment in support of policing activities.
* Oversee the recording and storage of electronic surveillance product used in the evidence process.
* Design and construct specialist electronic equipment in support of policing operations.
* Provide assistance in an advisory capacity on all matters concerning technology in the policing environment, with particular emphasis on surveillance and covert activities.
* Provide leadership.
Role Requirements
Mandatory
* A Diploma or Advanced Diploma or Degree in Electronic Engineering or Radio Communications or ICT or similar field as deemed equivalent.
* Note: Applicants who can establish equivalence of qualifications or have relevant studies plus work experience that can be recognised for qualification purposes are encouraged to apply. More information on qualification requirements can be obtained from the contact person nominated above.
* A high-level understanding and proven ability in the use of ICT systems and contemporary electronic principles and practices as they relate to technical surveillance equipment and capabilities is highly desirable.
* A demonstrated experience in contemporary principles of supervision.
* Note: Copies of all qualifications must be produced at the time of interview.
Highly Desirable Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
* R&D experience with IoT, IP, Audio, Video, RF, WiFi, and/or Bluetooth technologies.
* Experienced with coding in Python, Java, SQL, HTML, C++ etc.
* Experience with video analytics, video management systems, audio collection and product distribution.
Other Special Conditions
The following special conditions are required for each member of the Technical Surveillance Unit:
* A capacity to undertake the functions of an RF worker in compliance with Service policy in matters pertaining to working at heights, RF exposure, training, and other associated activities.
