Falcon Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a Library Officer to support the Librarian in providing library services to the growing number of students.
The successful applicant should be able to administer library systems which ensure library records are up-to-date and library resources are maintained and processed so they are always accessible and available to students and staff. They will ideally have excellent interpersonal skills and experience in a library management setting. Being in this role, you may be required to supervise groups of students during their time in the library.
The successful applicant will ideally be a lover of books who is able to inspire students with a love of reading, create a welcoming atmosphere in the library and collaborate with other staff to promote reading throughout the school. The successful applicant will ideally be a great communicator who is approachable and able to display the capacity to work cooperatively with others to create a welcoming and vibrant library environment for students and families.
Falcon PS is located south of Mandurah, less than a kilometre from Avalon Bay. The school has six teaching blocks and boasts an attractive and functional learning environment, supported by very experienced staff. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
1. Good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
2. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
3. Ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
4. Ability to provide administrative support and organise and prioritise tasks effectively.

12. complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
13. complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
14. provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
