Description About the role: We are seeking a talented Chef to join our Patient Food Services Team at the Royal Adelaide hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality, nutritious meals for our patients, contributing to their overall well-being and satisfaction. You will work closely with other food services staff to ensure that every meal meets our standards of quality and safety. Your interactions with patients, staff, and the public will require you to maintain a high level of confidentiality, empathy, and courtesy at all times. This is a full-time opportunity; you must be available to support a 7-day rotating roster between the hours of 5am and 7pm. Key Responsibilities: Assemble, prepare, and produce food requirements as directed by the Kitchen Operations Manager. This includes food safety, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, managing stock control, and adhering to all kitchen policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with the Downer RAH HACCP Food Safety Plan, monitoring food safety standards and practices, maintaining hygiene in food preparation areas, and completing all Food Safety Documentation accurately and timely. Monitor and enforce food storage standards, ensuring proper handling and rotation of stock using First In, First Out (FIFO) principles, and maintaining appropriate holding temperatures for perishable items. Ensure all kitchen equipment is operated following safe work procedures, maintained in a clean and safe condition, and adheres to the HACCP Food Safety program and Downers Zero Harm Policies. Foster positive relationships with team members and management by communicating effectively, listening actively, and exhibiting teamwork. Ensure compliance with Downer Standards of Business Conduct and contribute to a culture of safety and quality improvement. About you: Trade qualification in Cooking/ Chef (essential) Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (essential) Workplace Hygiene Certificate (desirable) Food Safety Certificate and/or HACCP Certificate (desirable) Previous experience in a healthcare environment, with knowledge of menu and nutritional standards for public hospitals/healthcare in South Australia is desirable.
