Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital
You will as a team member of the Patient Services Department, responsible for acting as the key contact point for patients, clinicians, managers and health funds in regard to a patient’s pre-admission, admission, discharge, billing and debtors follow up.
The Position
Ensure maintenance of accurate and current information within the Patient Administration systems.
Co-ordinate patient admission process, completing required financial/admission paperwork as well as ensuring all health fund requirements have been met, and working with other departments to ensure efficient patient flow and experience.
Clearly identify and communicate relevant Health Fund information and associated financial considerations to patients and key stakeholders.
Liaise each day with clinical manager of DSU and Pre Admissions Manager to obtain required arrival time for the following day- this is critical to ensure patient flow.
Participate as a valued team member promoting and contributing to a supportive team environment.
Communicate effectively with all customers and patients using the appropriate channels, utilising appropriate formal and informal channels of communication.
You will perform as a positive role model in fulfilling obligations relating to the wider finance department, colleagues, patients, staff and nursing profession and the community. Liaising with doctors’ secretaries and specialist nurses to obtain item numbers and prosthesis amounts to accurately quote for those items.
To succeed you will have proficient knowledge of health industry and health funds. Demonstrated clerical and computer skills with the ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
This role requires you to work from Monday to Friday, for various shifts between 6am to 5pm.

We can offer you
Salary: $57,000 to $59,000, plus 11.5% superannuation
Part time position available, working 60 hours per fortnight
