About The Role
This role is responsible for the direction and overseeing of the Open Space and Irrigation Planning team, which provides technical advice on, and coordination of, planning, and design of Council's open space and irrigation solutions.
The position will ensure that the strategic planning, concept development and design for renewal, upgrades and new open space and irrigation projects along with any necessary reviews are carried out for either delivery or inclusion in the capital works plan.
The position will also ensure that the team responds to community requests, provides internal advice, and updates or develops any relevant policies and procedures relating to open space and irrigation issues.
About You
To be successful in this highly regarded role, you will have a degree or equivalent qualifications in open space planning, e.g.
Bachelor's in landscape architecture; coupled with extensive experience in design, construction and maintenance of open space and irrigation.
Post graduate qualifications would be highly regarded.
As this role forms part of the leadership team, you will have extensive leadership skills and experience in leading a team and motivating others to succeed.
Adding to this level of management, you'll have advanced arbitration, negotiation, written and interpersonal skills, to enable the effective communication of acceptable and suitable outcomes with stakeholders.
You will have a comprehensive knowledge of the development of new, upgrade, renewal and maintenance solutions for open space and irrigation infrastructure asset management within a Local Government context.
This will also include knowledge and technical competence of current legislation, statutory requirements, standards, codes and principles of open space and irrigation.
Advanced time management, problem solving skills and an awareness of project management methods, procurement processes and contracting principles form an important and necessary part of this role, as does being highly proficient in financial management relating to development of budgets relating to large infrastructure projects.
