About the role - 6 month mat leave cover A mat leave cover opportunity for an experienced Communications Manager has arisen within our close-knit and energetic Corporate & Indigenous Affairs team. What you'll be doing Reporting to the Head of External Communications and Community Engagement, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering the company's communication strategy, particularly in relation to financial results and other critical corporate communication projects. You'll also: Lead preparation of media materials to support the company's financial results announcements, working cross-functionally with Investor Relations, Company Secretary team, and other relevant team members. Build and maintain strong relationships with key business and financial journalists and media outlets and respond to inquiries. Develop and execute communication strategies to protect and enhance the company's reputation during challenging issues and situations. Drive the development of key messaging and materials to support executive speaking engagements, including speeches, speaking notes, reports, Q&A and other key documents. What you bring With knowledge of the Australian retail sector and an understanding of the challenges it faces, you're a proven and proactive media relations professional with a love for corporate communications. You've worked in a fast-paced complex environment and come from an external communication and/or journalism background. You'll also need: Experience developing and implementing campaigns, preferably within a publicly listed company or a similar high-stakes environment. Experience in liaising effectively with journalists. Knowledge and understanding of Australian media. Experience in developing and executing issues management plans, specifically political, regulatory or other issues critical to corporate reputation. Strong writing skills.
