In this role you will effectively lead and manage the team in the Kookaburra, Cancer Care ward to provide comprehensive care and services to address the clinical, physical, social and psychological needs of patients and their families. You will be responsible for enabling a positive work environment and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient and family centred care, that contributes to the RCH's operational excellence framework. You will have support from the General Manager, Division of Medicine and provide governance to nursing practice and support a culture of growth and performance for all the staff.Classification for this position will be NM11, NUM Level 2 (FTE base salary $132,371 per annum, plus superannuation).What you'll achieve:Provide active and visible leadership to support safe, high quality, evidence-based nursing careManagement of unit / ward / service operations to ensure ongoing financial sustainability and service delivery efficiencies by maintaining the budget, driving process improvements and implementation of strategic initiativesEnsure completion of regular performance evaluations to provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional growth and development of nurses within the teamFoster a culture of continuous quality improvement and build capacity within the team to recognise and undertake improvement opportunitiesAct as a positive role model and uphold professional conductYour skills and experience:Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP)Management / leadership experienceRelevant post graduate qualification or working towardsEducation or training in leadership and management is desirableOther requirements:Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtainValid Working with Children CheckCompliance with RCH’s “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedureApplication processTo apply, you will need a resume and a tailored cover letter outlining your skills, experience, and suitability for the position in line with the requirements of the position description.
