About the role
Wesley Dalmar is providing residential care to young people in several locations in NSW. Residential Youth Workers will manage all day to day caring, supported by the Program Manager – Short Term Emergency Placements.
Youth Worker roles are currently being recruited to provide day to day care for young people in the programs in the following locations:
* Port Macquarie – Mid North Coast
* Taree – Mid North Coast
* Kempsey – Mid North Coast
* Grafton – Northern NSW
* Ballina – Northern NSW
Duties include one on one care of children and young people that are in residential care environments, managing behaviours and meeting outcomes according to the young person’s case plan, and assisting with their transition to foster care or independent living arrangements.
You will be a self-directed individual who is passionate about working directly with young people experiencing trauma and is committed to providing the best level care and support possible to our children and young people.
Positions are casual and can lead to permanent part-time.
Essential criteria
* minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar field
* availability to work flexible working hours including shift work, weekends and some paid overnight shifts
* ability to demonstrate knowledge of trauma-informed care
* current unrestricted drivers license
* current First Aid Certificate
* current Working with Children Check
* willingness to consent to the Residential Carer Worker Register
* intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Citrix, Outlook.
Desirable criteria
* experience in Out of Home Care, and/or working with challenging and complex behaviours in children and young people
* minimum 12 months experience working with children and young people
* strong ability to work as a part of a team and independently.
Remuneration
Salary and conditions of employment are based on the Social, Community. Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS) Level 3. Wesley Mission provides regular supervision and support for all staff and opportunities for professional development.
