Shanghai Street XLB (Noodle Wizard Pty Ltd) is a Chinese restaurant for handmade dumplings and good quality food. We are looking for a full-time Chef who has previous experience in a similar restaurant environment.As a Chef at Shanghai Street, you will play a crucial role in the kitchen's operations, contributing to the preparation and presentation of our signature dishes. You will work closely with the culinary team to maintain high standards of food quality and hygiene, ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with food safety regulations.Location: 342 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne, VIC, 3000Responsibilities:Maintain stock control, assist with ordering and inventory management of food supplies, and monitor food quality.Ensure the kitchen adheres to food safety and hygiene regulations.Plan menus and estimate costs in collaboration with the team.Develop new dishes and enhance existing menu items in consultation with management.Collaborate with managers and staff on food preparation strategies to improve food quality and service.Prepare and cook meals to a high standard as per the restaurant's menu.Select and train new kitchen staff to ensure quality standards.Provide guidance on cooking techniques and procedures.To be considered for this role, you MUST:Have relevant qualifications - Diploma in Hospitality Management (Specialising in Commercial Cookery) or higher.Have at least 1 year of Chef experience in a professional Chinese kitchen, preferably specialising in Shanghai cuisine.Possess extensive expertise in Chinese cuisine, particularly Shanghai cuisine, including deep knowledge of its ingredients, signature flavours, and traditional cooking techniques.Exhibit strong time management, planning, and organisational skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced kitchen environment.Be enthusiastic, reliable, and a team player with a strong work ethic.Have Australian work rights.Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese is highly preferred to facilitate communication and enhance service quality.Be careful - Don’t provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs.
