The opportunity This role will develop and deliver key support, governance, capacity building and training initiatives for recovery coordinators and advisors aimed at improving outcomes for Australian birds, focusing on preventing extinction and ensuring the effective implementation and evaluation of recovery coordinator actions. What you need to know To be successful in this role you will need university qualifications in ecology or another relevant discipline with at least three years' experience working in the field of applied conservation. Strong knowledge of species recovery, management of threats and conservation solutions, and technical expertise in species conservation are essential for this role. Analytical skills, including managing and analysing datasets, and knowledge of other tools, including MERIT, will be highly valued, as will an appreciation and understanding of science-based conservation, and a desire to find practical solutions to managing human-wildlife conflicts. This is a part-time position (0.8 FTE) offered on a maximum term contract initially. Continuation of the role will be subject to available funding. The position is preferably based in Victoria in the National Office in Carlton. Alternative locations will be considered based on strategic merit.
