As a Third Officer onboard the RSV Nuyina, you'll ensure safe navigation, oversee vital safety equipment, and support key vessel operations. Working closely with the Master and Chief Mate, you'll be part of a dedicated team that contributes to the ship's maintenance and safety protocols.
As a Third Officer, you'll make a positive impact by:
Managing navigation watches and monitoring the vessel's passage plan Testing and maintaining life-saving and firefighting equipment Overseeing cargo operations and coordinating with shore teams Supporting training and induction for new crew members Ensuring compliance with Serco's Safety Management System (SMS) Participating in safety drills and emergency response activities Serco is a place for you
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
Current Passport AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness AMSA-issued Watchkeeper Deck (Unrestricted) Certificate Dynamic Positioning Operator Unlimited Offshore (DPO) Certificate GMDSS General Operator's Certificate (GOC) Security Awareness Training Advanced Firefighting (AFF) and proficiency in survival craft Experience in polar, scientific, or resupply vessel operations Ability to use ship operating IT systems and draft documents Ability to pass a Polar Medical This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment as an essential selection component for this role. You must be willing to undergo an AAD Polar Medical Examination.
