About the role: Knauf is looking for a Business Development Manager to grow sales across the Wide Bay Queensland region. Reporting to the General Manager - South QLD, you will be responsible for generating sales revenue in line with agreed sales plans and budgets in addition to developing long-term business relationships with existing and prospective customers. In this role you will be focused on major commercial and residential projects and customers with a heavy focus on the plastering contractors/builders. Established networks within the building industry and a strong desire to create new business opportunities will be key to this role. You will have a disciplined approach to ensuring all relevant market and sales activities are being reported through our CRM system (SalesForce) and maintaining customer records. This role can be based from one of our Knauf Fulfilment Centres in either Hervey Bay or Bundaberg. Role responsibilities: Undertake sales activities within segment/region to achieve budgeted targets and take corrective action as required. Contribute to the development of customer and segment plans, identifying new opportunities for value-added products and services through account plan management. Conversion of market leads on building approvals into profitable sales to Knauf. Monitor selling expenses and pricing to ensure profitability targets are achieved. Develop strong multilevel relationships with targeted customers and segment decision makers. Resolve complaints in a timely manner and institute changes to reduce or eliminate reoccurrence. Ensure business transactions are conducted in a legal and professional manner. Manage and maintain existing customers; identify opportunities for increasing sales to the existing customer base. Analyze trends and future market needs. Proactively seek opportunities to develop expertise and capability through personal development training, technical training and project experience. Maintain knowledge of competitor activity and product and report market trends and changes to direct manager. Contribute to accurate customer and competitor information in our CRM. Ensure appropriate recording and reporting of sales activities in our CRM system. Ensure all required administration tasks are completed as required in a timely manner. Candidate requirements: Tertiary qualifications in relevant fields (Business) and/or formal sales training highly regarded. Experience within a manufacturing/building products/construction materials industry is preferred however not essential. Strong selling, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Strong analytical skills demonstrating sound business acumen. Demonstrated ability to efficiently multi-task and meet required deadlines. Ability to work autonomously and build long-term relationships. Intermediate proficiency with managing data in spreadsheets and CRM systems. Effective presentation skills to applicable audience.
