Our client is a leading Australian manufacturer of water heaters and boilers. This established organisation is an Australian success story, employing 500+ people locally with an annual turnover of $250M. The company has gone global and has Australia, New Zealand, UK and US as its key markets. There are two sides of the business operations here in NSW, the assembly manufacturing site and field service technicians.
The Opportunity
As a member of the onsite manufacturing leadership team, this newly created role will see you provide strategic leadership of HSE for the Australian business. You will drive all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment - providing development, direction and accountability to the business.
This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety professional who wants to make a positive impact to an already successful business. If you are a big picture thinker and understands how the HSE function positively impacts the wider business, this would be the role for you.
This role reports directly to the HR Director. You would be responsible for:
1. Provide WHSE advice, technical and management support.
2. Establish, develop and drive policies and procedures for safety/risk management.
3. Manage the company's compliance to AS/NZS4801 and ISO14001.
4. Initiate and drive safety programs.
5. Oversee the environmental compliance, improvement and reporting.
6. Build strong internal relationships with all levels of stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
7. Relevant qualification in a HSE discipline (e.g. Cert IV WHS, Diploma or a technical qualification).
8. Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar safety and compliance role, preferably within a manufacturing or technical service environment.
9. Commercially minded with big picture understanding of the HSE function's role within an organisation.
10. Thorough knowledge of HSE legislation, regulations, emerging issues and best practices.
11. Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
12. Must have full Australian working rights and be based in metropolitan Sydney.
