Information Technology Services Full time, fixed-term position for 12 month Base salary will be in the range $100,554 - $109,496 17% superannuation (HEW Level 7) Based at our St Lucia location About This Opportunity The primary function of the Senior Network Engineer is to provide high-level engineering support for The University communications network. This is a position that requires experience providing technical and analytical services to projects, some project management, and specification and budgetary planning. Key responsibilities will include: Design, implement, install, and maintain network infrastructure, while researching new technologies to improve services. Provide technical consultations to clients, including non-technical matters like staff selection and committee participation. Lead and supervise project teams, investigate and evaluate new systems, and ensure compliance with relevant University policies. Promote and ensure adherence to UQ's Cyber Security Policy, procedures, and standards. Broad knowledge of general computing, including networking and infrastructure concepts. Cisco CCNA certification or extensive hands-on experience with deploying and supporting Cisco network infrastructure hardware. Expertise in the analysis, design, development, operation, and maintenance of modern communications infrastructure, with experience in areas such as network security, IP telephony, disaster recovery planning, MPLS, and wireless LAN. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Organised, methodical engineering approach to work, ensuring attention to detail and efficiency. Strong client service ethic, with the ability to work independently or as part of a small team to meet objectives with minimal guidance. Desirable : Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP), professional membership (e.g., IEEE), experience leading technical teams, and exposure to quality management, service management, and project management methodologies.
