Your role at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals You will be a suitably qualified and experienced Consultant Physician and will provide specialist medical services as part of a high quality, holistic and compassionate patient care team. You will promote patient quality and safe care and provide leadership, training, supervision, mentorship and education to doctors in training and other health workers. This role will be predominantly based at Midland, but you will also be required to work shifts at Mt Lawley. The Position Provide general medical services to patients in the public and private wards at the hospital as defined by your scope of practice for Midland and Mt Lawley. Undertake clinical shifts as agreed with the Head of Department, including participation in the on-call/after-hours/weekend roster. Accept appropriate referrals both internal and external to the hospital, in accordance with the hospital’s role delineation. Clinical review and assessment of patients within 24 hours of their admission to the hospital under your care or when you are on call. Awareness of indigenous customs and community expectations in considering how best to look after, admit or discharge indigenous patients. Regular review of patients, together with doctors in training with a focus on quality of care and discharge planning, ensuring that the medical record is accurately updated after each review. Clinical review and management of patients referred to hospital outpatient services, with a focus on returning the patient to the care of their GP or primary care provider at the earliest opportunity. Support and liaison with patients and their careers, together with other clinical staff and health care providers, to provide coordinated multidisciplinary care. Take a leadership role in education and monitoring of doctors-in-training Actively participates in the development of clinical policies, standards, procedures, patient and staff education material. Initiates and participates in staff development programs and relevant meetings at both unit and hospital level, eg Unit meetings and identified portfolio meetings Essential Criteria You will have Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or equivalent within the next 6 months, with AHPRA registration reflecting this. Appropriate training and clinical experience in general medicine. Ability to work and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary teams, through effective verbal and written communication. Demonstrated competency in clinical leadership within a complex work environment. Highly regarded will be experience in research activities with appropriate publications, clinical experience and training in a subspecialty, and an ability to demonstrate a commitment to the provision of a quality service at a personal and service level.
