Job Description: Patient Services Assistant
This role provides support to nursing staff in a dialysis clinic by performing non-clinical duties related to direct and indirect patient care.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Protect patient rights by adhering to privacy principles and delivering high-quality care.
2. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the patient environment and stockroom.
3. Clean isolation rooms as required.
4. Clean exterior of dialysis machines, patient chairs, and over-bed tables according to policy and procedures.
5. Assist with food preparation and delivery of nutritional requirements to patients.
6. Distribute and collect patient/visitor meals and refreshments.
7. Arrange patient transport from dialysis treatment.
8. Restock consumables in the stockroom and trolleys as needed for daily clinic operation.
9. Monitor consumable stores and order stock when necessary.
10. Confirm stock delivery, check inventory, and document.
11. Perform stocktakes as requested.
12. Ensure routine collection and proper disposal of linen, rubbish, and contaminated waste.
13. Order and store linen.
14. Assist with blood sample collection from pathology labs and help spin blood before collection.
15. Participate in quality improvement activities as directed by the Dialysis Clinic Manager.
16. Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work environment for staff and a comfortable, safe space for visitors and patients.
17. Engage in internal and external training activities to enhance/maintain skills and knowledge.

4. Work Health and Safety knowledge relevant to the role.
5. Understanding of quality improvement processes and risk management obligations.
6. Food preparation and presentation skills.
7. Basic office skills, including filing and answering phone calls.
8. Previous experience in patient assistant roles.
9. Patient Service Assistant Certificate or equivalent qualification.
10. Commitment to quality improvement initiatives.
11. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
