The Director of Education has responsibility for providing academic support and opportunities for educational enrichment to students at St Andrew's College. The Director of Education oversees high-quality programs and short courses that add an extra layer of professional and personal development to the college experience of our students. The role suits someone with academic experience, ideally including small-group teaching and course development, and an ambitious and entrepreneurial approach to developing programs for College.
The role is available full time or part time to allow for concurrent academic work. The role is ideally suited to an academic or post-PhD researcher / tutor who wishes to develop their academic leadership experience whilst contributing to the academic and personal development of a community of talented undergraduate students.
Key responsibilities
The Director of Education oversees the Education Department within College, including the following programs and activities:
* Short Courses and Certificate in Leadership
* Educational Programs, including:
Humanities for Leadership
* Sports for Leadership
* Guest Speakers
The Director of Education is responsible for:
* Departmental Reporting
* Departmental Marketing Activities
* Admissions Interviewing
* Representing the College's educational offerings to a wider audience
The Director of Education supports the Senior Tutor to deliver:
* Academic Support Program
* Language Program
* Academic Workshops
* Tutor training
About you (desired qualifications, qualities and experience)
To be considered for this role, the candidate will have the following:
* A PhD in any discipline
* Experience teaching at University level, ideally including small group teaching
* The ability to lead and motivate an academic team
* An ambitious and entrepreneurial approach to delivering new programs for the College
* Excellent networking skills and the ability to build connections with University colleagues across disciplines
* Proven ability to secure grants and funding for academic research
* Marketing and communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively, innovatively, and with a high degree of initiative
* Experience managing programs and competing priorities
* Experience in, or ability to learn, a range of software products (including the Microsoft Suite and Coda.io)
* Ability to manage and analyse data
* Enjoy interacting with and supporting young adults
* Desire to immerse themselves in the culture of St Andrew's
Term and remuneration
The successful candidate will be offered a 4 year fixed term position on either a full-time or part-time basis (to allow for concurrent academic work) with a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
