About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Finance Advisor to join our client's Finance & Analytics team. This role is a parental leave replacement and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a dynamic and forward-thinking tertiary institution located in Canberra.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Finance Advisor
* Coordinate finance operations managed by the outsourced provider.
* Oversee the Xetta system for student payments, events, and paid parking, including processing refunds.
* Manage the Convera Global Pay system for payments to non-Australian bank accounts.
* Approve and coordinate supplier and stakeholder payment processing.
* Administer the Outside Studies Program (OSP) payment procedure.
* Oversee travel allowance processing for staff travel per diems.
* Manage corporate credit cards and the Expense8 management system, including staff training.
* Supervise the Finance Advisor - Operations role.
* Perform periodic reconciliations, including general ledger control accounts.
* Conduct complex accounting tasks and transaction investigations.
* Identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
* Provide professional finance operations advice to the university and corporate community.
* Oversee student non-taxable stipend payments.
* Assist with systems testing, upgrades, and ongoing administration.
What You Will Bring to the Role
* Proven experience in a finance officer role.
* Strong understanding of accounts payable functions, including invoice and credit card management.
* Strong understanding of general accounting practices.
* High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage a high workload to meet challenging and conflicting deadlines.
* Proficiency in technology skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders and provide advice.
