Noosa Flexible School is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. There are 22 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and Flexible Schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.
The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Noosa Flexible School is looking for a Groundsperson who is responsible for carrying out grounds tasks efficiently and effectively and acts under the direction of the Head of Campus.
The successful applicant will carry out maintenance, development and improvement of school grounds to improve amenities including:
Maintaining the gardens including grass, trees, shrubs, plants and flowers.Daily spot cleaning of walkways and high use areas.Mowing, whipper-snipping and weeding of all grass areas.Pruning and trimming trees and shrubs.Cleaning and maintenance of bins and doing dump runs.Maintaining equipment including lawn mowers, whipper snippers and chainsaws, amongst other equipment.This position is casual, commencing as soon as negotiated.
ABOUT YOU Current Queensland C Class Driver LicenceAptitude for, and ability to carry out gardening and plant careAbility to carry out minor maintenance/repairs/cleaning of school outdoor facilitiesUnderstanding of PPE compliance issues and use of appropriate PPE at all times.Ability to work successfully as part of a team and independently.
DesirableFormal qualifications in relevant field of horticulture.Knowledge and/or experience in the maintenance of plants, landscaping, tree planting and pruning.
