Job Title: Laboratory Manager
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Laboratory Manager to join our team at the University of Tasmania. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and operating multiple laboratories, providing technical support to staff and students, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
About the Opportunity:
The Laboratory Manager will play a central role in delivering exceptional standards in research and teaching programs. This includes organizing day-to-day operations, providing high levels of support services, and maintaining excellent laboratory management practice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and operate multiple TIA laboratories, including purchasing, managing, and maintaining consumables, chemicals, and equipment.
* Provide oversight for hazardous substances and activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
* Coordinate practical teaching activities at Launceston campuses and relevant field areas, liaising with academic staff and stakeholders.
* Provide a safe working environment, promoting excellent laboratory practice, and managing safety protocols.
What We're Looking For:
* A science degree or equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience.
* Strong WHS knowledge and safe work systems management, including management of chemical and laboratory hazards.
* At least 5 years of experience in providing technical laboratory support, including risk assessments, safe working practices, and standard operating protocols.
Salary Details:
$113,029 total remuneration package comprising base salary within the range of $89,091 to $96,606 plus 17% superannuation.
