Full Time Personal Care Worker – Aged Care - Wallaroo
Star of The Sea Home for The Aged in Wallaroo, South Australia, is a modern aged care community providing residential aged care, including dementia, respite, and palliative care services. We are seeking a qualified (Cert III) full-time PCW with Aged Care experience, a passion for the role, and at least 1 year of relevant experience. Salary of $65,000 - $75,000 + super for this full-time position.
Responsibilities and Duties:
* Personal Care – Assists residents with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while promoting independence and dignity.
* Mobility Support – Provide assistance with mobility, including transferring residents from beds to wheelchairs and helping with walking, ensuring safety at all times.
* Health Monitoring – Observe and report any changes in the residents’ physical or mental health to the nursing staff, ensuring prompt attention and care.
* Medication Assistance – Assist with the administration of medications as directed by nursing staff, ensuring compliance with care plans and medication schedules.
* Nutritional Support – Help with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring residents receive adequate hydration and nutrition according to their dietary needs and preferences.
* Companionship – Engage with residents through conversation, activities, and providing emotional support, enhancing their quality of life.
* Documentation – Accurately record care provided, observations, and any changes in residents’ conditions in accordance with Bethsalem Care’s policies and procedures.
* Team Collaboration – Work closely with nursing staff, other care assistants, and allied health professionals to ensure holistic care is provided to all residents.
* Infection Control – Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for residents and staff.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of a relevant Cert III.
Experience Requirement:
* At least 1 year of experience in Aged Care.
* Competency in the above tasks and duties.
* Able to administer medications.
* Valid Australian Police Check.
* Valid First Aid certification.
* Valid Hand Hygiene certification.
* 2024 Flu vaccinations (or willingness to obtain).
* Valid working rights in Australia.
* A compassionate, kind, and caring approach to working with clients and their families.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and colleagues.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good problem-solving and time management skills.
