Speech Pathologist (Full-time or Part-time)
The Shepherd Centre (TSC) is a highly regarded not-for-profit, providing specialised programs for children with hearing loss and their families. Our programs meet the needs of children of all ages; from our world-leading early intervention program for babies and toddlers, through to our mentoring program ‘Hear for You’ for school-aged children and teenagers. We have been empowering generations of children with hearing loss to listen, speak and have a voice for over 50 years, creating a world of choice and amplifying possibility.
TSC currently supports over 900 families all over Australia, providing in-person and online support from 10 locations across NSW, ACT, Queensland and Tasmania. Our global platform HearHub supports health professionals working with children with hearing loss all over the world.
About the role
We are growing and expanding our services to even more children and families across Tasmania, so we are interested in hearing from highly motivated and enthusiastic Speech Pathologists, who would like to join our fantastic Launceston team!
You will be working primarily across Launceston, the Central Coast and Northwest regions, providing evidence-based therapy sessions to children and their families in our newly established Launceston centre, in client’s homes, and other settings in the community. You may need to very occasionally travel to Sydney and you will be visited from time to time by other TSC team members. Regular supervision and ongoing professional development are all part of the package. All relevant travel expenses will be covered and you will also be supplied with all the tools you need to successfully do your job!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Guiding and coaching parents/care-givers to become the primary facilitator of their child’s listening and spoken language development in their everyday environments, through individual, group and consultative sessions.
* Acting as case manager and primary point of contact for clients and their families.
* Representing The Shepherd Centre with external organisations and networking with community organisations.
* Working with other team members such as audiologists and child and family counsellors, to provide an integrated approach to family goals around listening and spoken language.
* Developing, facilitating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating annual Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) with the team.
* Carrying out NDIS activities, including drafting Service Recommendations and Service Agreements.
* Monitoring and evaluating the child’s progress via formal and informal diagnostic assessment.
* Preparing and participating in delivery of group programs where required.

Minimum Requirements:
* A relevant tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology or Education of the Deaf.
* Membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
* Highly developed verbal communication and writing skills.
* Desire to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
* Passion for working with children and supporting their families.
* Ability to work flexibly and resourcefully in a busy environment.
* Willingness to obtain Registration to Work with Vulnerable People, a NDIS Worker Check and obtain full vaccination for COVID-19 (2 doses).
* Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
* Full working rights to work in Australia.
Desirable Criteria (but not essential):
* Experience working in the area of hearing loss.
* Experience working in family centred practice.
* Experience working with children in an early Intervention setting.
* Experience working with families under the NDIS.
