Discover life-giving possibilities
Lifeblood is more than just a job or a career; it’s an opportunity to be part of something that matters. Our purpose is simple: life-giving donations for life-changing outcomes. Together, we want to help you build a fulfilling career with Lifeblood.
About the role
The Product Development team works across a number of research themes aimed at improving the quality and shelf-life of blood products and making them safer for patients receiving a blood transfusion. We use our expertise in cellular biology, molecular biology, and immunology to understand how blood products change during routine storage and to develop new ways of storing blood products.
You will provide research support across several projects on blood donation. Our goal is to deliver leading-edge research that translates into evidence-based business practice while expanding academic knowledge about blood donation. You will use experience and/or intellectual expertise to generate and analyze data and provide advice and recommendations regarding project outcomes.
This will involve blood separation and isolation of specific cell types; functional assays of platelets, white cells & red blood cells; cell proliferation and activity assays; flow cytometry; and biochemical analysis of blood cells. Here’s what we’re looking for:
1. Completed an Honours degree (Biomedical/Life Sciences) or equivalent
2. At least one year’s experience in cell biology and molecular biology, immunology, or haematology
3. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate laboratory records
4. The ability to assimilate complex concepts and integrate them into practical applications
5. An excellent communicator with great verbal and written skills
6. Analytical in your approach to problem-solving
7. Able to undertake and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently
This is a permanent full-time opportunity based out of our Sydney Processing Centre.
