Job Description
The Team Lead provides leadership and support to both staff and residents. They model important work habits and set the tone for each shift.
The Team Lead advocates for residents, resolves difficult or sensitive issues, responds to medical emergencies including overdoses, and maintains a safe and welcoming environment for a marginalized population.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Team Lead is responsible for the site when the Site Supervisor is not available, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of staff and residents.
* Encourage and foster a collaborative working team that practices effective communication and encourages growth.
* Ensure incidents are handled in a supportive manner while de-escalating appropriately.
Resident and Program Needs:
* Assist with resident support plan development and delivery of services in collaboration with the Site Supervisor and support team.
* Perform wellness checks.
* Assist residents with activities such as room cleans and laundry.
* Assist with applications and referrals.
* Maintain active files for assigned residents.
* Support residents with developing independent life skills.
* Maintain knowledge of laws and legislation affecting residents.
* Utilize de-escalation skills to mitigate challenging situations.
* Respond to medical emergencies, including overdoses.
* Liaise with partner agencies and other professionals/support teams.
* Oversee daily shelter/housing site operations, maintaining safety for all residents and staff.
* Collaborate with the team on engaging residents using a Team Approach.
Organization and Site Needs:
* Provide authentic and engaging leadership and support for the team and residents.
* Delegate and oversee daily tasks.
* Deal with maintenance issues, including plunging toilets and leaks.
* Report maintenance needs and requests in a timely manner.
* Collect statistical information for reporting requirements.
* Aware of critical incident report procedures and follow health and safety policies.
* Uphold OPS policies and procedures.
* Understand and follow the VicPD/OPS Cooperation agreement.
Qualifications
Education and Knowledge:
* Diploma in a related human or social services field.
Training and Experience:
* Minimum two years recent related experience.
Working Conditions and Compensation:
Shifts: Full-time, three 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week), Thurs/Fri/Sat nights (7pm to 7am)
Compensation: $30.75-$35.29 per hour, plus an extra $1 per hour for night shifts.
Benefits: Vacation accrued at a rate of 6%. Eligible for a 100% employer-paid comprehensive benefits plan after completion of probationary period.
