The Role:
A Medical Scientist plays a critical role in our Core Laboratory, which provides 24/7 diagnostic services in Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Bank.
* Working across all areas of this multidisciplinary laboratory, the Medical Scientist serves as a sole scientist on the out-of-hours roster and participates in the emergency on-call roster.
Duties:
* Performing analyses of clinical samples for routine and out-of-hours services is a key responsibility.
* Routine and specialized tests in Pathology testing are conducted with accurate documentation of results and reports.
* FOLLOWING guidelines for reporting results, including telephoning urgent and critical results, is crucial.
* Maintenance of procedures, equipment, quality control, and supplies of consumables ensures an uninterrupted service.
The Team:
We are part of the Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania's largest hospital, and the Department of Pathology within the RHH, which is the tertiary referral centre for many specialized testing services. Working closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions, we focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes.
Details of Appointment:
This is a permanent full-time shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary: $77,737 - $111,364 per annum. Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Eligibility:
Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognized tertiary institution and registered with the relevant Board or eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
