Legal Practitioner (Criminal Law) Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Practitioner to join our team at the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Legal Service. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide expert information to clients and external stakeholders, relying on state-wide resources and their immediate legal team.

The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Legal Service is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that delivers innovative, professional criminal, civil and family law services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients throughout Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high-level client services in Criminal Law proceedings while ensuring exemplary case management standards.
* Perform core legal duties in all aspects of Criminal Law, including adult and youth jurisdictions.
* Develop and maintain in-depth working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Youth Justice Act 1992 and the Criminal Code 1899.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and develop training/education programs for staff members.
* Ensure compliance with ATSILS policies and procedures, including background checking services.
Requirements
* Admission as a Legal Practitioner within the State of Queensland or holder of (or eligibility for immediate acquisition of) a current Practising Certificate.
* Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a remote location, with frequent opportunities to travel by air and road.
* Current Queensland Driver Licence and willingness to undergo a National Police Certificate check.
* Ability to use Microsoft Office in a Windows networked environment.
