In this role you will gain exposure to a wide diversity of projects across Sydney and regional NSW in an extensive range of sectors, including new communities, commercial, healthcare, mixed use, tourism, masterplanning and a multitude of other exciting areas.The right candidate is one who will work in partnership with the State Manager to shape the growth and direction of the planning team, seek out new business opportunities and have the chance to progress your career in a genuinely supportive, vibrant, contemporary and multi-disciplinary environment.Key responsibilities:Provide a lead role on a diverse range of statutory town planning projects for both public and private sector clients and lead multi-disciplinary teams.Work with the senior team members to manage budgets and plan the direction and focus for town planning team.Represent Tract at external workshops, public consultation meetings and client meetings.Introduce new projects and project leads into the Tract office and build a strong client base across the public and private sectors.Undertake regular engagement in proactive business development and marketing opportunities.Collaborate on projects with the landscape, urban design and media teams, particularly on masterplanning and strategic planning projects.Lead and mentor the Sydney planning team and the extended national town planning team.About you - we are looking for a Principal Town Planner who has:Appropriate tertiary qualifications in town planning and suitable experience in the Queensland planning system at Principal level, or equivalent.An advanced understanding of thePlanning Act 2016 ,Economic Development Act 2012, Development Assessment Rules and other relevant legislation.Experience in managing people and teams.Demonstrated capabilities in statutory planning projects including capacity to independently project manage and deal with a variety of stakeholders.Experience in, or a willingness to undertake, business development.Awareness of current planning, development, economic, social and environmental issues.An enthusiastic, proactive and commercial attitude.A keenness to mentor team members.The ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders.Excellent oral and written communication skills.A genuine passion for planning.Additional BenefitsTract also offers a wide range of benefits to team members including:Professional development – opportunities to attend conferences / seminars / courses, and working with in-house experts across Australia.Mentoring – work alongside and learn directly from well-known leaders in the industry.Employee benefits - paid parental leave, scholarships, income protection insurance, an employee assistance program and a wellbeing program.It's also about diversity.
