PPG is seeking a Resin Plant Manager in Clayton, Victoria. The plant manufactures resin to support the Industrial Coatings, Refinish Coatings, Packaging Coatings, Protective and Marine Coatings and is looking into expanding into the Architectural Coatings Business Units to manufacture resins to support coatings formulated specifically for customers’ needs and application methods.ResponsibilitiesThe position of Clayton Resin Plant Production Manager is a leadership role and the individual in this role must provide direction, coaching, and technical expertise to the operations personnel responsible for the resin manufacturing process.The candidate must become proficient in the use of manufacturing systems and knowledgeable of different procedures in order to meet customer order fulfillment, resolve process/equipment issues, drive cost-saving initiatives, minimize downtime and ensure product quality.Additionally, the candidate must have experience working with different organizations within a company and be used to a multi-functional environment. The candidate will also be expected to work closely with the Regional and Global Resin teams driving the Global Resin initiatives and key result areas. Represent Clayton Resin on project teams as needed on a local (Asia Pacific) and global scale.Member of the Site EHS Leadership team (EHSLT) participating in Plant Level EHS Improvement / Sustainability activities to ensure a safe working environment in the plant and compliance to regulatory requirements and PPG EHS Management System.Collaborates with Operations Departments (Materials / Engineering / Maintenance), Supply Chain and Technical to ensure continuity of supply. Reviews processing schedules and production orders to determine staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments.Monitors production, quality control, maintenance, process engineering and other operations in the Resin Plant to detect production problems and implement improvement solutions.Defines performance expectations and goals for subordinates and work units.Be a problem finder and problem solver driving continuous improvement.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent.Ability to solve increasingly complex technical problems; resin knowledge; development of subordinates; effective teamwork with support functions (maintenance, HR, accounting, etc.).Good communication and people skills are critical success factors.Strong knowledge of manufacturing concepts, analysis, techniques, principles, and practices (FMEA, PM, Systems, Material flow, etc.).Strong aptitude and skill in organizational discipline, project management and analyzing and interpreting various types of data.
