As a Systems Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex systems architecture solutions that align with our business needs and technology strategy. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts on a breadth of programs and projects at various stages of their respective lifecycles. About FLAIM: FLAIM Systems developed the word’s first multi-sensory immersive learning solution for firefighters to safely and cost-effectively replicate the stress and uncertainty of real-world emergency situations. FLAIM was commercialised in 2019 out of Deakin University’s Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation following an extensive 10 year period of product development. Position Details: Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, the role is responsible for designing and implementing New Product Introductions (NPI) and reviewing Product Extensions that are aligned with the organisation strategic objectives and meet the needs of the customer by ensuring the systems designed are scalable, secure, and reliable. The role is also responsible for the management and reporting of the ISO ECR/ECN process. Primary Responsibilities: Designing, developing, and supporting the comprehensive architecture for a suite of high-level VR based training components that include: COTS and custom hardware – including firmware, Handheld and wearable kinesthetic tools/devices, Sensors, actuators, and data capture, Cloud-based hosting of international user data and system configuration information, High-fidelity, multi-user virtual reality scenarios and screen-based interactive learning content and assessments, Student performance and progress tracking, Interconnectivity including Wifi, Bluetooth and APIs, Administration and user portals, and Server-side analytics, security, and privacy. Responsible for designing and developing the architecture of NPI and Product Extensions that meet the needs of the customer. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including the Release Manager, R&D and product development teams, customer success team, senior management, and SMEs and customers. Working with R&D Manager to refine the design and selection. Integrate hardware, firmware, and software components, including the development and integration of hardware and software components to create integrated NPI and Product Extensions that meet customer requirements. Ensuring system compatibility by ensuring that all components of the NPI and Product Extensions are reliable, user-friendly, compatible, and work together seamlessly. Evaluating the performance of the NPI and Product Extensions and design necessary adjustments to ensure usability and optimal performance. Managing system maintenance and upgrades by ensuring that “over the air” releases are tested and carried out reliably to minimize customer inconvenience and prevent downtime. Providing technical support to customers in relation to systems integration, connectivity, and interoperability, troubleshooting any issues that arise and providing guidance on how to optimize system performance. Maintaining system architecture documentation, including document control and revisions associated with architecture design notes, technical specifications and other relevant documentation aligned with FLAIM QMS and ISO requirements. Continuously improving the release process by identifying areas for improvement in the release process and implementing changes to improve efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction. Contribute ideas and opportunities for system usability and performance improvement into the R&D process. About you: We are looking for a high energy, motivated, individual with preferably a proven track record as a Systems Architect. Our ideal candidate will have the following: 5 years experience in system design and architecture with demonstrated experience in implementing complex systems in various industries. Experience, proven track record and positive mind set to drive quality assurance and continual improvement with solid understanding of QMS/ISO and or six sigma roles throughout career. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience with servicing B2B and or B2G customers Strong understanding of various hardware and software components, programming languages, network protocols and database management. Familiar with different operating systems and architectures and experience in designing and implementing complex systems. Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex technical requirements and translate them into effective system architecture designs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as they will be responsible for coordinating with multiple teams and stakeholders.
