Your Opportunity
Mornington Island Safehouse provides 24-hour, 7-day support for children in state care in a culturally appropriate setting under the Child Safety Act 1999. We work with families to reduce the risk of children entering care and support children returning to family or kin. The Safehouse employs 11 support workers and a family support worker. We are looking for an enthusiastic passionate person to assist in the day-to-day running of the Safehouse and offer an amazing opportunity to work and live on the island supporting children and families.
This role supports clients, the Program Manager, and other employees in the provision of program activities within the values of Mission Australia, that contributes to the outcomes of the service.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Manage responses to critical incidents with residence in collaboration with the Program Manager.
Review complex cases to ensure service collaboration, insights into challenges of the cohort, and strategies provided to staff and/or sector.
Ensure a safe service for clients and staff by ensuring correct policies and procedures.
Lead the effective functioning and development of the service through involvement in projects.
Assist staff as required including providing relief duties when needed.
Ensure all case management files are in line with Mission Australia protocols and provide training if required.
Requirements for Success
Relevant degree with relevant experience or other appropriate qualification/experience.
Demonstrated ability to provide supervision to employees and provide expert advice to employees at lower levels.
The ability to assess risk and detect potential threats to resolve issues that may occur with challenging client behaviour.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
Strong level of computer literacy including report writing and collation of data.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
